Current Craig High School students and incoming freshman are selecting courses for next year. The Agriculture Courses tab found on the left side of this page contains details about the agriculture program and classes offered.
We have deleted some classes and are offering classes on a alternating year basis for try to maintain the classes for students in the future.
The alternate classes that are being offered for 2012-13 are Landscape Design and Greenhouse Management, and Equine and Exotics Class
The alternate classes being offered for 2013-14 are Large Animal Science and Food Science & Ag processing.

Fruit and poinsettia sale items that were ordered can be picked up Wednesday, December 7th from 3:00-6:00pm in the greenhouse or on Thursday, December 8th from 3:00-5:30pm in the greenhouse.
Payment can be cash or a check made out to Craig FFA. Items must be paid for when picked up.

Come to the Greenhouse to select a student grown poinsettia as part of the Holiday Sale. We have over 100 beautiful plants for SALE.
Four colors are available - Red, pink, white, and burgandy. All plants come with a decorative pot cover. The price is $14.00 or $20.00 per plant depending on size and discounts are given for buying larger volumes.
The greenhouse will be OPEN Nov 30th 2-5:30 p.m. - Dec 7th 3-6 p.m. and Dec 8th 3-5 p.m. Or call Diane Runde @ 743-5187 to schedule a time to pick out a poinsettia.
Recently twelve members of the Craig FFA made dog treats in the school FACE kitchens. The members mixed, cooked, packaged and sold cheese, low-fat, and peanut butter treats. The treats were sold at Parent-Teacher Conferences. The chapter was able to raise $107.00 and donated all of the proceeds as well as some homemade treats to the ROCK COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY.
Craig FFA has over 100 beautiful poinsettias for sale. Please contact the FFA at 743-5187 To select a time to pick one up. We are offering a reduced price of $12.00 each for orders of 10 or more poisettias. Please come to the greenhouse to pick a plant.
We have 8 inch poinsettias for $14 and 14 inch poinsettias for $20, Colors range from red, pink, pink shimmer,white, and burgandy.

Each year during Homecoming, the Craig FFA selects one female and one male member to represent the FFA on the Homecoming Court. This year the Craig FFA voted Thomas Murphy and Lauren Durdan as the chapter representatives. The FFA was very proud to have Thomas chosen as the King of the 2011 Craig Homecoming.
Students attended the World Dairy Expo. The Dairy Foods team place 29th over all and the Dairy Cattle team placed 21st overall. Great job to both team.
Students in the Craig FFA attend the World Dairy Expo to gain knowledge about the dairy industry. We will have a Dairy Judging Team and Dairy Products Judging Team. After spending the morning at the World Dairy Expo, the members will head to the Henry Vilas Zoo.

On Thursday Sept 15th at 6 p.m in room 816. The Craig FFA will meet in room 816. The FFA will provide donuts and juice for a breakfast snack.

The monthly meetings for the 2011-12 school year will be held on the second Wednesday of the month in room 816. If you would like to join the FFA, please use the membership form provided in class, or use the one found in the forms and applications tab from this website. Dues are $15.00 for 2011-12.
We will be ordering t-shirts and sweatshirts this year. Please bring your ideas to the meeting.
On Tuesday, May 31st FFA students with their families will gather at Palmer Park for the annual FFA Awards Picnic. The meal will be served at 6:15pm with the awards to follow at 7:00pm. Please make sure to RSVP to Mrs. Skemp.

On Tuesday May 17th - Seven Janesville elementary schools will visit the Daluge Dairy Farm and Arndt Farms, Inc. While on these two farms, the FFA members will serve as tour guides and teach the 4th grade students about where their food comes from. The stations at the Daluge dairy farm will include milking, milk house, calf huts (pictured here), small animals, Farm Safety, Dairy Products with ice cream, horses, and the free stall barn. 
While at the Arndt Farms, the students will see the beef feedlot, augie wagon and feeds, machine shop and equipment, sheep, mint, swine, wildlife, and how soybeans and corn are being used as something other than feed. Here are all the FFA members infront of the machinery station.
Prior to the farm tour, each of the classrooms are visited by FFA members. Use the power point game attached to the forms and applications to present to the classrooms.
The Craig FFA will be conducting its spring plant sale on beginning on Wednesday May 4th at 10 a.m. The ending time is 6 p.m. on this date.
The plant sale will continue on Thursday May 5th and Friday 6th from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday May 7th the plant sale will begin at 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Students will also have plants at the Janesville Farmers Market on Saturday May 7th 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
This year we are trying to protect our environment and will be going "GREEN" with some of our hanging baskets. They are made out of 100% recylced paper which can be composted and returned to the earth at the end of the growing season. The hangers are swivel, not swing and will contain some very nice Proven Winner plants.

Sunday March 13th Craig FFA will be playing the CHS teachers in a donkey basketball game. The Janesville Jets will play the Rock County Gladiators in the second game and the winners will met in the champion ship game. Tickets can be purchased at Mac's Pizza Shack, a FFA member, or from the CHS athletic office.
Tickets are $6.00 in advance or $8.00 the day of the show. There will be free donkey rides for children between the games.

The Janesville FFA Alumni will hosted a regional qualification Career Development Event on Saturday March 19, 2011.

The following nine contest areas were offered. Livestock, Dairy Cattle, Wildlife, Dairy Products, Ag Mechanics, Floriculture, Horses, Small Animal Care, and Meats.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION can be found by clicking on the Forms and Applications tab on the side of this webpage. We will be using all on line registration this year. Please go to this site by typing it into your browser, www.saeserver.com to officially enter the contest. All teams must enter using the online link and then send registration materials and fees to the Janesville FFA Alumni.

Fifteen members of the Craig FFA particiapted in the Southwest Land Judging contest in Lancaster on Oct. 7th 2010. The Craig FFA placed 15th over all and taht was an excellent placing considering that most of the members had never judged soils before.
The contest was help on the Grant County Farm and over 200 studnets particiated from various FFA Chapters. The top scoring individual for Craig FFA was Eliza Arndt.

Janesville Craig agriculture department will be celebrating National Teach Ag Day on Wednesday, February 24th due to parent teacher conferences. Stop down in room 816 on Wednesday, February 24th to see what activities and fun Mrs. Runde and Mrs. Skemp have in store!

Thank you to everyone who purchased fruit, poinsettias and other items from the holiday sale. The FFA was able to earn $7,000 from the sale of these items. In addition to raising money, the studnets learned about salesmanship, cooperation and product delivery. Look for the Craig FFA Bedding Plant sale in May as another fundraising event for the chapter.
Thank you to everyone who helped in some way with the Runde Benefit. It was a huge success and it would not have been possible without the help from so many people. Thanks to those who donated items for the silent auction, large auction, and the meal. Huge thanks to those who helped with set-up, clean-up, and helping run the benefit. We were successful in raising money for Justin and Anne's Educational Funds.
Mrs. Runde our advisor had a huge trajedy this summer when her husband Brian Runde passed away suddenly. The Janesville FFA Alumni along with other organizations is planning a benefit for Mrs. Runde and her children. The Runde Family Benefit is Friday, October 16th at the Rock County Fair Grounds and starts at 5:00pm.
We are still looking for silent and live auction items. If you have something to donate please send Mrs. Skemp an email at sskemp@janesville.k12.wi.us. The items can just be brought the night of the benefit, but Mrs. Skemp would like to know what items are going to be donated before the benefit.
There will be a meal, kids games, hay ride, costume contest, 50/50 raffel, live music, silent auction and live auction. All activities will be by donation.
The costume contest will start at 6pm and anyone wanting to participate and wear a costume to the benefit can. Each participant of the costume contest will have to try to collect money from people. The person in a costume with the most money in their Halloween bag will win a prize. All money will be donated to Runde Benefit.
There will be a giant pumpkin there and people can pay a dollar to guess the weight of the pumpkin. All money will be donated to Runde Benefit. The winner will get a prize and then the giant pumpkin will be auctioned off.
People should bring an already carved pumpkin, painted pumpkin, or decorated pumpkin for the pumpkin contest. We will have a small amount of pumpkins that can be carved or decorated at the benefit. People will put money into the pumpkin they want to win and the winning pumpkin will get a prize. All money will be donated to Runde Benefit. There will also be a small supply of pumpkins at the benefit that can be decorated or carved.
We hope to raise money for the Runde educational fund for Justin adn Anne and to also raise money for unexpected expences that may arise in the future.

The agriculture department at Craig was fortunate enough to receive two new classrooms as a result of the referendum that was passed at Craig. The officers spent long hours helping to decorate both classrooms, organize the classrooms and labs, and to clean the greenhouse. Come see the new paintings on the classroom walls and the new animal lab.

Six students traveled to Hollandale to visit the Carlson dairy farm. While at the farm students milked cows, fed calves, went horseback riding, 4-wheeling, visited Hollandale, and went to a hobby farm..jpg)

Nine members of the Craig FFA traveled to Boulder Junction, WI to particiapte in the summer school course called "The Great Outdoors" Students hiked, fished, swam, and spent four days at the camp. Members who particiapted were Allison, Kaylyn, Katie, Greta, Hattie, Nathan, Stephanie, Molly, and Sara.

Multiple Janesville Craig FFA students exhibited animals, plants, foods, photography, and many more projects during the Rock County Fair on July 26th through August 2nd.

On Friday Jan. 9th twenty members of the Wildlife Ecology class ventured out to Storrs Lake to learn about ice fishing. The class caught a few fish to use in the taxidermy project. Here Alex and Joe show a few small Northern Pikes that were caught. We got 8 inches of snow the day of the trip, but it was fun and a warm 23 degrees.

On Thursday Sept. 25th twenty members of Wildlife Ecology class set out on a fishing trip to Lake Koshkonong. Before departing on the trip class, members learned how to read a lake map, boater safety, fish identification, fishing regulations, and how to prepare gear for fishing.

Five members of the Craig FFA traveled to Brown County, WI to participate in the State Soil Judging Contest and to view Farm Technology Days. Member include (back left) Tom, Ethan and Allison and Matt (front left) & Greta. The team placed 9th out of 33 teams and did a good job working with some very clay-type soils.
While in the county the team toured Packers Stadium during the Brett Farve "trading" days. Pictures from the stadium and soil contest can be found below.

On June 4th 2008 the Craig FFA held it annual awards picnic at Palmer Park. Outstanding members were recognized and new officers were installed. The new greenhand members are pictured here.

The Craig FFA awarded the "Blue and Gold" Award to Principal Dr. Mike Kuehne. He has been a great supporter of the Craig FFA.

Three members of the Craig FFA flew to Oklahoma City to praticipate in the National Land Contest during May 2008. These member had earned the right to represent Wisconsin by placing in the top 5 at the State FFA Contest.
The National Contest was held on reservation during a pouring down rain. The Craig studnets placed 40th overall and was the highest placing team from Wisconsin. Logan Frei ( pictured below) was the highest placing person from Wisconsin finishing 37th overall.
Logan works through the rain and mud to determine a Class 7. His advisor said "hogwash" but Logan was right - AGAIN!!

The FFA gave tours to over 450 students from seven elementary schools in Janesville. We could not have had better

Participate in the FFA Week trivial contest during advisory. Pick up the questions, form your own groups, and work on finding the answers to the trivia contest. Turn in your completed forms to room 507 for some neat agriculture related prizes.
On Tuesday, 2/19/008 The FFA will be conducting a community wide ag scavenger hunt. Meet at 6 p.m. by the school greenhouse to get you clues, for teams and to begin. Prizes will be awarded to the teams who find all of the items in our community.

The Craig FFA will be taking a Ski / Snowboarding trip to Cascade Mountain on Jan. 11th. Cost is $16.00 for lift ticket and $28.00 for lift ticket and rental. The trip departs at 3:30 p.m. from door number #22.
On Dec 6th and 7th eighth graders from Marshall, Franklin, Edison, and other schools visited Craig High School. During this tour, the future Craig students had a chance to see the elective areas offered at Craig. The agriculture program tour included a visit to the small animal lab, current agri-science classroom, and the greenhouse.
Various information about selecting agriculture classes was discussed. Students were directed to this website to see more course information and as a reference for when they are completing course selection.
